The Jordan Apotheke is a bright, spacious pharmacy characterized by clear structures and dynamic furniture arrangements. The lighting design complements this architecture, focusing on the effect of light rather than the fixtures themselves. The luminaires for basic lighting are either integrated into pendant luminaires that trace the shape of the furniture or mounted on the sides of the suspended ceiling, keeping the ceiling as clean as possible. This approach allows for an unimpeded experience of the space.
Conceptlicht GmbH's design philosophy is rooted in the belief that light is information. Brightness draws attention, highlighting areas of importance and creating a hierarchy of visual significance. The designers have meticulously ensured that no "unimportant" areas are hit by light accidentally, and that the space is free from visual burdens such as glaring light sources. This attention to detail results in a comfortable and oriented space that is easy to navigate.
The standout feature of the Jordan Apotheke is the track of light that leads through the pharmacy. Square backlit light tiles, concentrated in the entrance area and dispersing towards the dispensary, emphasize the entrance. These RGB-LED-backlit tiles correspond in colour to the LED-backlit counters, allowing for a change of ambiance with a cool blue in summer, a warm red in winter, or a dynamic play of colours throughout the day.
The design was realized using energy-efficient metal halide lamps for basic lighting, with LED and fluorescent lamps for accent lighting. The result is a consistent spatial impact that supports the expressive architecture of the pharmacy interior. The luminaires are unobtrusive, drawing attention to their effect of light instead of their fixture design.
The Jordan Apotheke was completed in June 2011 and has since been recognized for its innovative design. It was awarded the Golden A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award in 2013, a prestigious accolade granted to outstanding and trendsetting creations that advance art, science, design, and technology. This award is a testament to Conceptlicht GmbH's commitment to innovation and excellence in lighting design.
